We’re thrilled to welcome USA Today bestselling author Nedda Lewers to Discovery Elementary for a special visit with our 3rd–5th grade students!
Nedda Lewers is a former teacher and the USA Today bestselling Egyptian American author of Daughters of the Lamp, a magical middle-grade adventure that blends Arabian fairy tales, family legacy, and thrilling discovery. Her stories take readers on imaginative journeys while exploring identity, courage, and what it means to find your place in the world.

Author Presentation & Writing Workshop
During her visit, Nedda Lewers will give a presentation to all 3rd–5th grade students, sharing insights into her writing process, storytelling, and what it’s like to be a published author.
Following the presentation, Nedda Lewers will host a 40-minute writers’ workshop for a small group of students.
✨ Writers’ Workshop Opportunity
- 10 students per grade level (3rd, 4th, and 5th) will be selected
- Students are chosen by grade-level teachers
- Selected students will participate in an interactive writing workshop with the author
- Selected students will be notified approximately one week prior to the event
This is a special opportunity for students to engage more deeply with the author and practice creative writing in a small-group setting.

Families can purchase an author-signed copy of Daughters of the Lamp for $9.
All books ordered by the January 30th deadline will:
- Arrive in time for Nedda Lewers to personally sign them during her visit
- Be delivered to your child’s classroom after the event
- Please include your child’s name, teacher, and grade when ordering so we can deliver their signed book correctly.
Any orders received after January 30th will still be delivered to your student, however, the book will not be signed by the author.
